Music Description = The Beginning & The End is basically
a Chinese Fantasy base composition, narrating The
Beginning of a new era/rise of a new Empire which results
in The End/The Fall of another Empire back in the era of
Three Kingdoms, thus that's how the name of the music
comes from.

This piece combines a lyrical opening section, with a more
dramatic and suspenseful second section.
The image that guided the composition was of a group of
people who know that they must leave a beautiful place,
their home, because of an approaching danger. The
opening section is a reflection of the sadness but also the
warmth of memories shared in this place. I have used the
Dizi and Gu Zheng along with strings to try and achieve the
tenderness of these thoughts. Then the people begin to
move with more urgency, as time is running out. Soon
enough, the pressing danger reveals itself in all its threat
and power, and the people must literally run for their lives.
As they go, a brief return of the lyrical opening section is like
a memory that sustains them, as well as their hope for a
new life ahead. Then, it’s back to the current situation as
they set out again. The ending is a little ambiguous- like the
game that this could be music for, the end could go either
way!
